A shocking lightning feeling?

I know someone who has congested heart and kidney failure. He has to go to dialysis three times a week. For the last two weeks he has been experiencing a shocking lightning feeling throughout his body. From his head to his arm then to his hand. Does anyone know why he is experiencing this pain.
